Tom Engell, CPA, MST, CGA

Chief Executive Officer & Founder

Under Tom’s leadership, the firm’s growth continues to outpace the national average year-over-year. Tom provides his business, entertainment, and non-profit clients with over 25 years of experience in the field of income tax, accountancy, and financial management.

As a financial and management advisor to his clients, Tom takes on the role of CFO. As an active participant he drives an organization’s overall strategy—leading all financial administration and oversight, budgeting, and tax planning under their direction.

Tom demonstrates his commitment to the firm’s mission as a strong supporter of staff development—this ensures that performance is exemplary and that The Rocher Group team provides world class customer service.

An entrepreneurial at heart and a SBA 2014 Emerging Leader, Tom has owned and successfully sold a variety of businesses. He is a Certified Public Accountant in the United States and Canada, a Certified Business Valuation Analyst, and holds a master’s degree in taxation. As an educator, Tom has taught college-level courses in accounting, taxation, and finance, and is co-author of a computer-applied accounting textbook.

Tom is actively engaged in Los Angeles County’s non-profit community. He is a member of industry associations, and has served as a board member for numerous organizations. When not wearing his clients’ CFO hat, you can find Tom on the tennis court and spending quality time with his family.


Lucy Ordibik 

Account Manager

Lucy is an Account Manager who received her Bachelors of Science in Accounting from the University of Southern California. Lucy has over 10 years of experience working with individual and corporate tax clients. 

In her spare time Lucy enjoys spending time with her daughter and cheering for her on the soccer field.




Daniel is an established Certified Public Accountant with over 25 years of experience in taxation, accounting, and financial consulting. Daniel holds a Master's in Accounting and a Personal Financial Specialist(PFS) credential. He has handled clients with needs from standard accounting to retail businesses, manufacturing, and real estate investment companies. He has consulted for personal retirement and estate plans and has expertise in trust and estate areas. Daniel is well-known amongst his clients for his amiable demeanor, customer-oriented relationships along with his results-driven method.

Daniel earned his Masters in Accounting from California State University – Northridge and his BA from Yonsei University, Seoul Korea.

Daniel is a member of the California Society of Certified Public Accountants and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.


Michael Johnson

Office Administrator, Accountant

Michael is a recent graduate from Los Angeles City College with an AA Degree in Accounting and Business Administration.  He has a background in Customer Service, Administration and Operational Management.  Michael is excited to continue his career in the Accounting field with The Rocher Group.

Michael is a tech enthusiast that loves learning about and researching advances in computer hardware and has built, upgraded and maintained his own custom gaming computer for nearly 10 years.


Ray Yu


Ray started his accounting career in a small service company and joined FJR for more challenges in the public accounting field. His focuses are on bookkeeping and payroll processing. He has been preparing for CPA exams. Ray received his Master of Accountancy from Cleveland State University and his Bachelor of Arts from Communication University of China. 

Ray loves rock and indie music, and strives to afford to be a true audiophile! He is also a “gear head,” watching others review all kinds of gear online.


Angela Gu


After receiving her Master of Professional Accountancy, Angela started her career at a local CPA firm, focusing on nonprofit clients. She then decided to pursue a second Master's Degree, in taxation, to have a deeper understanding of the U.S. tax system. Now, full of passion, she serves as a staff accountant for the firm and is responsible for bookkeeping and preparing tax returns for clients. She is diligently working toward her CPA license, as well!

Angela received her Masters of Science in Taxation from CSUN, her Masters of Professional Accountancy from UCR, and her Bachelors of Arts in Accounting from Soochow University.

Angela loves listening to music and watching movies. During the weekends, she’s always up for a pleasant short trip and preparing a nice dinner.

Evan Engell

Canadian Tax Advisor

Evan has extensive experience in Canadian taxes.  He is a member of the Association of Professional Accounting and Tax Consultants (APATC) as well as being a member of their board of directors.  This is a Canadian not-for-profit association representing professional practitioners in taxation.  He currently prepares over 1,000 Canadian personal and corporate tax returns annually.

An entrepreneur at heart, he has held financial controllership and other senior level executive positions in the private sector including internal audit and acquisitions specialist.   He has owned, and held the position of CFO for, a popular retail franchise and an LA based magazine.  Evan has lived as far south as Okeechobee, Florida and as far north as Yellowknife, Northwest Territories.  His work has taken him across Canada and the US many times.

Evan’s non-work passions are mountain biking, shuffleboard, and pickleball.
